Gaza aid site offered a ‘women only’ day. It didn’t stop the killing

BBC News, Jerusalem
BBCThe food distribution was announced in a article on a social media, as before, in a article with a picture of the smiling Palestinians who took the help boxes.
However, this time, the invitation shared by the Gaza Human Foundation (GHF) contained only pictures of women.
“Tomorrow in our morning distribution in our position in the Saudi region tomorrow, only women and welcome to buy a dinner box.” He said. “Men should avoid the site during this distribution.”
Mary Sheikh al-Eid wanted to feed her seven children. Mary’s sister Khawla, her husband had previously been killed in the war, and the family survived in lentil soup for three weeks, but said it was a fight last week.
“The children and mine told us not to go,” Khawla said to the BBC. “Mary told me she wanted it because it was a day for women, and the numbers would not be great.”
GhfGHF’s Food Aid Distribution System has been overshadowed by daily chaos and killing scenes since its implementation in May with Israel and US support.
Long distances are forced to walk to Israeli military zones by entering the fence surrounded by large crowds, private security contractors and Israeli troops. Palestinian men mostly have risks, jostling to provide a box of food for their families.
Gaza has only four GHF distribution areas for two million people, but it is not typically more than two open.
On Thursday, the sisters Mary and Khawla set out early to the aid point in the Southern Rafah area. When they arrived, the scene was already chaos.
“There was a large crowd of women, and the ground came out of control, they could not empty the help and could not distribute it.” He said. “They began to spray the women with pepper spray, then they brought stunned grenades and started throwing them to women to force them backwards.”
The sisters were challenged. Khawla’s clothes were filled with pepper spray, so he agreed to meet at his brothers’ home and called his sister.
Shortly after calling again, to feel that something is not true.
“This time a stranger gathered, told me that the owner of the phone was shot and taken to the Red Cross [field hospital]”Khawla said.
“I called again, and this time I was told I was hit on his head. I ran like crazy and called again, but this time this phone was told that the owner was killed.”

Since its establishment in late May, the GHF help system says that more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army, and mostly trying to get close to the UN and other aid convoys, as well as GHF distribution areas.
On Friday, an former US soldier working with GHF said he witnessed the Israeli troops and security contractors who shot at the crowds.
Anthony Aguilar said to the BBC that he has never seen such a “random and unnecessary use against a civilian population, unarmed, hunger, hunger, and unnecessary force.”
Israel said that his troops had previously made “warning shots” and applied “learned lessons”. He accuses Hamas of provoking chaos near the aid points and objects to the number of deaths reported.

Medical officials at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis said that Maryh al-Eid died of a bullet injury around her neck. One of the two women known to have been killed on “Women’s Day” on Thursday.
BBC also spoke to the family of the second woman killed, Khadija Abu Anza.
A sister Samah said that when an Israeli tank and troops arrived, they traveled to GHF aid field.
Samah said on Friday, only at a distance of meters, when they told them to return the troops for the first time they made warning shots.
Samah, “We started to come back and then was shot with a bullet.” He said. “They hit him around his neck and he died immediately.”
“I tried to carry him, and the blood fell to me, a man helped me to move him to the Nasser hospital. The help point was opened immediately after he hit him and they let people get in.”
In response to the BBC, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) added that in the early hours of Thursday, “the suspects approaching them, threatening the troops” and “firing warnings”, but unaware of the losses, he added.
Filming, before the opening hours ‘hundreds of meters away from the distribution zone’ he said.
ReutersUntil May, UN agencies, other international organizations and charities provided most of the Gaza population in the 400 distribution area in the soil.
The introduction of the GHF has been criticized by many people in the aid community to weaken the previous human system and increase Israel’s control over the distribution of foods in Gaza and forcing people to dangerous military places. The UN refuses to cooperate with the GHF system.
Recently, Israel’s control over food delivery to Gaza has been greatly condemned by many European governments and aid groups.
Israel has introduced the GHF system because Hamas has previously been directed from helping under the leadership of the United Nations and made profits, but it does not provide evidence to show that it is systematically.

Daily death reports are collected in Gaza. Humanitarian officials say that the region should be overflowing with help to prevent total collapse.
Pursuant to international law, Israel has the obligation to protect civil life as the military power that occupies Gaza – allows people to find food to survive. However, while Israel continued to support the GHF distribution model, Hamas and aid agencies accused of existing famines.
Mary’s sister Khawla says, “I pray to God, they’re death traps.” “He went to buy food for his children, but he returned by people who carry his body.”
