Geordie Greig: Labour’s SEND reforms are ‘really about money’ | News

Bridget Phillipson has spoken passionately about her desire to improve support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), but her proposed reforms are “really about money”, Geordie Greig told Laura Kuennsberg on Sunday (February 22).

This week Labor will publish plans to reform the SEND system. It is reported that the plans determining children’s support rights will be reviewed within the scope of changes to be determined by the minister of education.

Ms Phillipson was asked if she could take her plans to Labor MPs who “have inboxes flooded with messages from families who are desperately worried about the situation”. Independent The editor-in-chief said: “Will this really guarantee that children will not be denied necessary help?

“This is a very important question for Labor MPs who will consider this issue. Will we see another U-turn?”
