Georgia freezes bank accounts of parents of jailed former aide to de facto leader | Georgia
Bidzina Ivanishvili, a former assistant who was sentenced to prison as the actual leader of Georgia, froze his bank accounts after accusing Ivanishvili of pursuing a blood feud against his son.
The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office acted against Marina Ramazashvili and her husband Alexander on the day when Guardian criticized billions and asked for help from the West.
In the interview, he saw Giorgi Bachiashvili, the son of Ivanishvili, the Honorary President of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, as a “personal prisoner ve and claimed that he did not have humanity, no empathy”.
Ramazashvili, a famous ophthalmologist in Georgia, treated Ivanishvili and members of his family for eye conditions in the past.
In the crypto currency from Ivanishvili, 40 -year -old Bachiashvili is sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment in a crypto currency, in a situation in which NGO transparency International is defined as “lack of legal and factual reasons”.
Bachiashvili claims to have been punished by Ivanishvili, whom he worked as his closest assistant for ten years.
He also claimed that Ivanishvili, who guided Georgia’s shift to the West and Russia, may have concluded that he was a Western spy.
Bachiashvili escaped from Georgia in the midst of the hearing on the allegation of theft, but in May, he flew to the Georgian capital Tbilisi, who claimed to be an Interpol in Abu Dhabi and fly with a bag above his head.
The Georgian government later issued a press release that Georgia claimed that he had found and arrested Bachiashvili near the Armenian and Azerbaijani border.
In a statement published on Saturday after the freezing of the bank accounts, the prosecutor’s office said that the movement is part of a criminal investigation that continues to launder money.
He said: “The investigation seized the bank accounts of the convicted Giorgi Bachiashvili’s parents and the assets he acquired by Giorgi Bachiashvili during and after the commission of the crime.
“During the trial, after abuse 8,986.86 Bitcoin, Giorgi Bachiashvili has proved to cover the real source of its origins through various financial procedures and actions to cover the illegal origin of abused assets, so that it allowed him to freely seize and use himself illegally.
The US government imposed sanctions on Ivanishvili to erode democratic institutions, to violate human rights and to prevent the use of fundamental freedoms.
David Janderi, a lawyer in the Georgian legal defense team of Bachiashvili, said that the seizure of parents’ assets showed the personal nature of the claim of persecution to his clients.
He said: “Freezing the existence of Mr. Bachiashvili, who has never been accused of injustice, predicts how the investigation was armed. The authorities expand the punishment measures to his family, weaken the basic principles of justice and bring a kind of collective punishment.
“These people had personal savings, arbitrarily seized with honest medical work throughout their lives. Such actions go far beyond the legitimate law enforcement officers and create a politically motivated pressure rather than a fair legal process.”
