Trump says he’s cancelled attacks on Venezuela, touts $100bn oil investment

US President Donald Trump called off a new military strike against Venezuela and said the two countries were “working well together” on rebuilding the country’s oil and gas infrastructure.

overwrite Real Social On Friday, Trump also called Venezuela’s release of “a large number of political prisoners” a “very important and smart gesture.”

“Due to this cooperation, I have canceled the previously anticipated second Strike Wave, it appears it will not be needed, but all ships will remain in place for safety and security,” Trump said.

Trump said that US oil companies will invest at least 100 billion dollars in Venezuela and noted that he will meet with representatives of US oil giants at the White House later on Friday.
