Girl, 17, is stabbed in the neck on residential street: Armed police arrest man, 30, on suspicion of attempted murder
A teenage girl was stabbed in the neck during a shocking attack that came to light on the street.
Armed officers from Lancashire Police quickly arrived at the scene in Brierfield, near Nelson, shortly after 3pm on Friday.
They discovered that a 17-year-old girl had been stabbed in the back of the neck.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
The injured person, who is not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening, continues to be treated at the hospital.
The daylight attack took place in Wood Street, Brierfield, Lancashire, on Friday afternoon.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: ‘We were called to Wood Street, Brierfield, at 3.06pm today to reports of a stabbing.
‘It was reported that a 17-year-old girl was beaten and injured by being stabbed in the neck.
‘We know this will cause alarm in the local community and extra patrols will be in the area this evening to ensure reassurance.’
The force quoted recording 0836 of June 12 and asked anyone with information to come forward by calling 101.
