Glacier Burst In Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan Destroys Over 300 Houses, Village Washed Away | World News

Local media reported on Saturday, more than 300 houses and dozens of shops in the Ghizer region of Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, have been destroyed.

The disaster caused by the glacial lake explosion (Glof) once again released the flood raids in more than one village and created an artificial lake on Friday morning.

Although the authorities confirmed that the loss of human life was not reported, several areas were immersed under water and caused comprehensive financial losses.

The landslide, then Ani Glof, Rawshan and Tildas villages early on Friday morning. The resulting artificial lake sweeping more than seven kilometers of agricultural land underwater and parts of the road network.

The locals reported that about 80 percent of the village of Rawshan was washed in a disaster.

A report published by the Regional Administration on Saturday, said the water level in the temporary lake created by the disaster has begun to withdraw by providing a little relief and fear of damage, according to the leading Pakistan media output Geo News.

Sel, Tildas, Miuri, Mulaabad, Hawks Thangi, Rawshan and Goth villages affected a total of 330 houses, while dozens of shops experienced heavy destruction.

Additional Commissioner (ADC) Gupis Yasin said that urgent tents, food supplies and other basic aid products are necessary for displaced families.

Authorities confirmed that water flows from the artificial lake through a natural full -welfare, gradually reduced the level and reduces the risk of erosion in downstream areas.

According to the leading Pakistani Pakistan, Express Tribune, rescue officials confirmed that at least 200 people have been withdrawn after the formation of the artificial lake caused fears in the natives.

Senior Ghizer official Sher Afzal said that some upward flow houses remained wreck, but after the opening of the full -sacrifice, thousands of additional houses were prevented from the expected water raid.

However, he warned that it would take time to completely evacuate water from the already affected areas.

Authorities also warned that the natural dam in Rawshan is undecided and still under pressure.

The Pakistan Meteorology Department (PMD) provided a high warning in glacier regions with fresh rainfall forecasts since Saturday, August 23rd.

The disaster in Ghizer is the last one of the floods of a series of glacier lake bursts this season.

According to local media reports, such four events have already caused great damage to homes, crops and vital road connections in the valleys in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
