Glasgow games kicks off in Scotland with performances by KT Tunstall, Tom Walker, Nina Nesbitt, Valtos, Callum Beattie,

You’d imagine that Scotland, one of the most musically prolific countries in the world, would have plenty of acts to choose from today’s celebrations; Think Belle and Sebastian, Primal Scream, Mogwai, Teenage Fanclub and even The Proclaimers.

But the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games appears to be as popular with musicians as Trump’s inauguration. For example, Games have a “official DJ” and somehow it’s not even Scottish superstar Calvin Harris – it’s Foreign actor Sam Heughan doesn’t even perform at the opening ceremony. (The next day, he moves behind the decks in his first medal session.)

Famous names leading the opening ceremony are as follows: checks the notes – Tom Walker, Nina Nesbitt, Nathan Evans and Saint PHNX. To paraphrase Mariah Carey: I don’t know her.

But is it someone we all know? KT Tunstall is here! If it doesn’t perform Suddenly I See – aka song The Devil Wears Prada – I turn off my television. (Just kidding, my TV isn’t even on.)

One can only imagine what Melbourne could do with this opening ceremony. Kylie Minogue! Amyl and Sniffants! King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!

Let’s be honest, it would be Vanessa Amorosi’s Absolutely EveryoneAnd it would be incredible.
