Goa nightclub fire: Magisterial probe ordered; FIR lodged against owner, GM

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ordered a judicial inquiry into the fire that broke out in a nightclub on Sunday, December 7, 2025, which claimed the lives of 25 people.
To talk PTIMr. Sawant said that an FIR has been lodged against the owner and general manager of the nightclub and they will be arrested.
The fire broke out at Birch on Romeo Lane after midnight. The popular party venue in Arpora village, about 25 km from the state capital Panaji, opened last year.

“I am closely examining the situation arising from the tragic fire incident in Arpora, in which 25 people lost their lives and 6 were injured,” Mr. Sawant said in his post on
“All six injured people are in stable condition and are receiving the best medical care. I have ordered a judicial investigation into the entire incident to determine the cause and determine responsibility,” he said.
To talk PTI, Mr. Sawant said the police have registered an FIR against the owner and general manager of the nightclub and they will be arrested.
He said that this is the first time such an incident has happened in Goa.
The Prime Minister stated in the preliminary investigation that the fire started on the first floor of the club and that customers could not go out due to the crowd and small doors.
“Some of them ran to the ground floor and were trapped there,” he said.
