Lookout notice issued to trace missing Suraj Lama

Nedumbassery police on Wednesday issued a surveillance alert even as a special investigation team intensified efforts to trace Suraj Lama, a Bengaluru resident who has been reported missing from the city since October 10.

Police said anyone with information about the missing person should contact them at 94979-90077 or 94979-87128.

Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court has ordered the investigating officer to take Suraj Lama’s son Santon Lama to safety and investigate every clue he shared to trace his father.

This was after Santon informed the court that he had received clues about his missing father from different people. The court instructed the police officers investigating the incident to make the necessary visits to his home to gather more information.

The government informed the court that an SIT has been constituted under the chairmanship of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ernakulam Rural Police, to investigate the incident. The matter is listed for discussion on November 11.

The Supreme Court had earlier this month directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate how Suraj Lama, a 58-year-old Bengaluru resident who was deported from Kuwait on October 5 following an alcohol poisoning incident, landed at Cochin International Airport after immigration clearance.

His son had filed a habeas corpus plea in the Supreme Court after Suraj Lama, who reportedly suffered from memory loss, was reported missing in Kochi since October 10. Instead of being sent to Bengaluru, he was reportedly deported from Kuwait to Kochi without informing his relatives. Thrikkakara police detained him on October 8 and took him by ambulance to the Government Medical College Hospital in Kalamassery; He is said to have been missing here since October 10th.
