Cassius Turvey’s murder has ‘torn at the very fabric of our society’, his mother tells court | Western Australia

His heart, whose heart was broken, said that the murder of an indigenous young man who was beaten with a metal pole during a disgusting racist attack on Bushland had smashed their lives and left a community living in fear.

Cassius Turvey, a child of Noongar Yamatji, died in the hospital on 13 October 2022 10 days after he was deliberately shot in the eastern suburbs of Perth.

24 -year -old Jack Steven James Brearley and 29 -year -old Brodie Lee Palmer were sentenced to kill the 15 -year -old child after a 12 -week hearing in May.

The 27 -year -old Mitchell Colin Forth, who was tried for the murder of Western Australia Cassius, was found guilty of murder.

Mechelle Turvey, the mother of the victim, said that he was a gentle giant taken unjustly from his son’s family and that his death was “leaving a gap that will never be filled”.

Turvey said that Cassius ‘glorifying ”the murderers’ crimes and transformed the innocent children with him into the world of pain and fear.

On Thursday, the court said to the court, “The traces of physical and emotional wounds they have moved are a proof of the persecution they endure.”

He said that the effect of the murderers’ disgusting actions ”immediately went beyond their victims. “Families are devastated, they are struggling with the unimaginable pain of seeing their loved ones suffer.”

Turvey, Cassius and other children are racially worsening, confronted, chased and attacked after the community, “the community lives under the shadow of fear and uncertainty,” he added.

“This random targeting has left fear for the safety of all children.”

Turvey said that Cassius’ peers and a leader who is about to start his first job in KMart, and no word could not fully capture the destruction of losing someone you love for violence.

“Cassius wasn’t just a part of my life,” he said.
