Gosnells grandmother struck by car and killed during walk just 100m from home

It was determined that the pedestrian who died after being hit by a car was his beloved grandmother who was out for an evening walk.
Daphne Cottee’s loved ones left flowers at the scene of the crash on George St in Gosnells. perthThey will remember the 80-year-old as a caring person, he told 7NEWS.

Cottee was hit by a Kia Rio hatchback while crossing the road just before 6.30pm on Sunday.
Teenager Eugenie Smith was among the first on the scene and tried to save him using CPR skills she had learned during swimming lessons.
“I was coming home from work when I turned the corner — obviously there were people standing around (Cottee), so I went to ride my horse, but I turned around and said, ‘I’ve got to do something,’” Smith said.
Cottee was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital where he died.
Relatives described her as the matriarch of their family and will remember grandmother as a wonderful, caring person who cared for them.
“You were loved. You were special. You will be sorely missed,” a note to the grandmother said.

Cottee had lived in Gosnells most of his life and was just 100 yards from his home when he was shot.
“I was very upset because I served him yesterday. He came here and bought milk, bread, coffee,” said a local worker.
“I was shocked because I just saw it.”
Police said the 44-year-old female driver involved stopped at the scene and was not injured.
Major Crash is investigating the incident and has called for witnesses.
No charges were filed.
