High street chain with over 130 stores announces closures | UK | News

A large UK High Street Chain with more than 130 stores has announced six new closings that will close until the end of September after 50 stores closed in early this year. Scope, which has a philanthropy of national disability equality, announced in January that it fought financially and will be forced to close some stores.
The chain of philanthropy shops, which has branches throughout England and Wales, estimates that their shops will lose £ 1.5 million this year after a consultation process. Between 30 August and 27 September, six stores will be closed – Alton branch had already pulled the blinds well. The next shop ear marked for the closing will be Bishop’s Bishop’s Stortford, Huntingdon and Newmarket on September 6.
And until September 27, Beverley and fleet stores will be closed permanently.
The full list of scope stores is closing:
- Alton – 30 August
- Bishop’s Stortford – September 6
- Huntingdon – September 6
- Newmarket – September 6
- Beverley – 27 September
- Fleet – 27 September
In total, Lancaster Live is considering closing 77 of the chain of 138 stores throughout the country.
In Barking and Amersham, about 23 shops were closed by the end of March, including two places around London. Later, in May, 11 stores closed their doors for the last time and 15 shops disappeared in summer.
In his annual report up to 2024, Scope said that he earned £ 24 million from trade activities, but in the same year he spent £ 24.7 million to protect and operate his shops.
Charity Scope Retail President Debbie Boylen said: “We never take the decision to close our stores. We know that this is more than a job for our colleagues and volunteers.
He added that the scope continues to have a future in Hight Street, and that its shops will continue to be a place where the aid organization interacts directly with local communities.
