Grammy winner to star alongside Sting in Brisbane season
QPAC has announced that two-time Grammy winner and reggae icon Shaggy will perform in the Brisbane performance of Sting’s musical. The Last Ship From April 9th.
He is famous for his songs like. Angel, B.oombastic, Oh Carolina And It Wasn’t MeJamaican-born Shaggy has sold more than 40 million records.
He will appear The Last Ship He plays Wallsend Ferryman alongside Sting, who plays shipyard foreman Jackie White.
“I am honored to join Sting on stage in Brisbane, and I am especially grateful to help bring to life a story that is so personal to him,” Shaggy said.
QPAC chief executive Rachel Healy said Shaggy added: The Last Ship The casting would be the first time the two music stars have stepped into character roles together.
“It’s a rare and unmissable experience to witness two close friends bring Sting’s own story to life, and we’re thrilled that Queensland’s new Glasshouse Theater will host the only Australian season of this extraordinary creative partnership,” he said.
The Last Ship Inspired by Sting’s childhood in Wallsend, UK, the film tells the story of a community faced with the disappearance of their shipyard.
Sting wrote the songs for the series and has previously starred in productions in North America.
The music star, who is no stranger to acting, has appeared in the following films: Quadrophenia, Dune And Lock, Stock and Two Barrels.
Shaggy continues to be among the three most listened to reggae artists worldwide and his new album, LotteryIt falls in May.
Sting and Shaggy had previously toured together and collaborated on the 2018 album. 44/876.
