Every day, I live with the legacy of a three-decade career, including diagnoses of PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. But even more painfully, I carry the memory of my dear friend Audrey Fagan, Canberra’s former Chief Constable. Audrey was a brilliant leader who took her own life in 2007 when she was stranded on the same remote island where the senior leadership was, facing immense pressure with nowhere to go.
