Great Denham murder probe as mum and 2 kids found dead and ‘suspect flees country’ | UK | News

A mother and her two children were found dead at a property in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, and a suspect known to the victims is believed to have fled the country, Bedfordshire Police said. Police officers were called yesterday (6 July) after a mother and her two children who had not been seen for several days raised the alarm.
A number of inquiries were carried out before police broke into a property on Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham, where they discovered the bodies of a woman and two children. A murder investigation has been launched by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit and specialist teams are being deployed and patrols by uniformed officers are being increased in the Great Denham area. Police said they identified a suspect known to all three victims and believe the suspect later fled the country.
Deputy Chief Constable John Murphy, who described the incident as “extremely distressing”, said locals could expect an increased police presence in the area, although there was nothing to indicate a wider risk to the public.
Deputy Chief Constable Murphy said: “This is an extremely distressing incident in which a mother and her two children are believed to have been murdered.
“Our thoughts are first and foremost with those affected. We recognize this will raise concerns in the local community and beyond.
“This is the early stages of an incredibly complex investigation. We are mobilizing all necessary resources to establish exactly what happened and find the person responsible.
“As a result of the investigations carried out so far, we have identified a suspect who is known to all three victims and whom we think has left the country.
“Whilst there is no indication of a wider risk to the public, we will increase police presence in and around the area to support the investigation and provide reassurance to residents.
“I would appeal to anyone with information regarding this incident, or who may have heard or seen any suspicious activity on Carnoustie Drive, particularly on Friday and Saturday, to contact police as soon as possible. “Any information, no matter how small, may assist our investigation.
“I also ask that people respect the privacy of the victims and refrain from speculating about what may have happened.”
