Ubisoft shake-up: 6 Games scrapped, studios closed, and ‘Sands of Time’ remake killed in massive reset

Ubisoft announced a restructuring effort on Wednesday in which as many as 6 games were canceled along with the closure of studios and its efforts were restructured into five ‘Creative Houses’.
Among the canceled games is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, which was scrapped after years of development. Other canceled games include three new IPs, a mobile game, and an unannounced project that did not meet the new ‘enhanced quality’ standard.
The company also announced that it was postponing 7 games to 2027 ‘to ensure that advanced quality criteria are fully met’. The remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is expected to be among the delayed games.
“To put Creative Houses in the best conditions to succeed, we decided to refocus our portfolio with a meaningfully revised 3-year roadmap and accelerate our cost reduction initiatives to right-size the organization,” Ubisoft Founder and CEO Yves Guillemot said in the company’s statement regarding the layoffs and canceled games.
“While these decisions are difficult, they are necessary to build a more focused, efficient and sustainable organization in the long term.” added
