Greek island loved by Brits to get £426m airport replacing the ‘worst’ | World | News
The expanding area is being built next to the Current Hellenic Air Force Base, which is planned to be opened in 2027 and will continue to operate after the opening of the commercial airport.
The new airport will replace Crete’s primary airport Heraclion International and the country’s second most intense point in Athens International Airport.
Located from a 25 -minute distance from the new airport, Heraclion sees about 8 million passengers a year, but fought to deal with the number of rising passengers.
While the travelers gushed about the beauty of Crete himself, Heraklion did not always receive shining investigations. The Portal Holidi reservation previously analyzed data from Google Maps and produced the ranking of the best and worst airports in Europe last year based on average star ratings.
Heraclion returned to the bottom with an average of 2.6 stars without examining 21.202.

Other investigations are much more positive, in a third article: “Despite other bad investigations: the airport was organized very well, clean facilities were fast, friendly and sufficient seating.
