Images of clothing released to identify alleged victims of abuse in childcare centres in Sydney

WARNING: Images may be disturbing
The Australian Federal Police have released a series of images allegedly taken from the electronic devices of a former childcare worker accused of abusing 136 children over 16 years.
Former childcare worker Hamish Tait, 35, was charged with producing child abuse material between 2009 and 2025 while working in childcare and early learning centers in Sydney’s north-west.
He faces 329 charges and is accused of abusing 136 victims from 121 families in Sydney; AFP is working to identify a further 22 potential victims.
The AFP has since released seven de-identified images of the alleged harasser wearing allegedly taken from electronic devices seized during the investigation, and is seeking any information from the community about them.
The footage is thought to have been taken at childcare centers in Sydney’s north-west between 2018 and 2025.
Three of the photos, believed to have been taken at a childcare center in Rouse Hill on June 26, 2023, show the back of a man’s puffer vest with a distinctive dinosaur skeleton pattern.
The other two images show shorts with a blue pattern on the left front shoulder and a gray T-shirt with an animal print.
AFP believes the two photographs were taken between February 18, 2020, and March 3, 2024, at a childcare center in Rouse Hill.
The last two photos show a two-tone t-shirt, presumably taken at a childcare center in Putney on January 9, 2018.
AFP Detective Acting Inspector Emmanuel Tsardoulias said authorities hoped parents, carers or the general public could recognize these distinctive pieces of clothing.
“We understand this week’s news regarding Operation Moonbi has been difficult for members of our community,” he said.
“The abuse of trust that we allege occurred is confronting.
“Our investigation will continue and we thank the public for their cooperation, patience and support as we continue our investigations.”
List of places where Mr Tait worked or visited has been published Operation Moonbi website by AFP.
