John Farnham seen with family in Boxing Day pics, fans share love for iconic Australian singer
Legendary You’re the Voice singer John Farnham has been spotted in new photos with his loving family as the cast gather together on Boxing Day.
Farnham, 76, was seen in two photos shared by her sons Rob and James on social media.
“Merry Christmas from the Farnhams,” James wrote, posting one of the photos.
The Two Strong Hearts singer has kept a low profile in recent years as she spends time with her family and focuses on her health and recovery.
In the after-Christmas photos, Farnham was seen smiling at the dinner table surrounded by her family.
The photo appears to have been used as a Christmas gift for Farnham’s loyal fans, who thanked the boys for sharing their happy photos.
“Great photo Rob,” one fan wrote. “Thank you so much for sharing… you really have no idea how happy it makes everyone who grew up with John to see such a beautiful photo!”
“So nice to see you looking amazing John, lots of love to you and your family,” another fan said.
“Great to see a photo of John. He looks so good. Thank you for sharing this,” a third wrote.
In 2022, Farnham was diagnosed with oral cancer.
A malignant tumor, initially thought to be an ulcer, was discovered in the singer’s mouth.
Following the discovery, Farnham underwent 12 hours of life-saving surgery, which included the removal of part of his mouth and jaw.
After weeks of radiation, Farnham received news that he was cancer-free, but the life-saving surgery left him unable to sing like he used to.
“I can’t make the movements to make the sounds I want to make, that’s where the vibrations and my voice come from. It’s a very worrying thing. And it hurts to try,” he wrote in his memoir The Voice Inside.
Farnham admitted in her book that she still sings in the shower, but described the noise as louder or “wailing”.
“I can barely open my mouth but I’m still crying in the shower,” she wrote.
“I love making sounds with my throat. I have loved whistling and singing since my childhood.
“I’ve been given a gift and it’s been special to be able to go out there and impact people in some way. I’d like to keep doing that. So while I’m not pinning all my hopes on it, we’ll see.”
The Voice Within is the first memoir Farnham has approved in her storied career.
He co-wrote the book with first-time author Poppy Stockwell, who directed and co-wrote the award-winning and record-breaking documentary John Farnham: Finding the Voice.
