Hakeem Jeffries confronted over Biden gas prices after Trump criticism

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (DY) took issue with high gas prices under the Biden administration Monday morning as he criticized President Donald Trump for “skyrocketing gas prices.”
Jeffries pointed to gasoline prices while discussing Trump’s peace deal with Iran after months of war and hostilities”Good Day New York“
“This was a reckless election war that cost the American people significantly, especially with regard to skyrocketing gas prices in an environment where the cost of living was already sky-high,” Jeffries said.

After Jeffries emphasized the importance of “solving our own problems” in America, host Rosanna Scotto reminded him that former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden also saw high gas prices during their tenures.
“Gasoline prices were high during the Obama administration, too. What about Biden, right?” Scotto said.
While Jeffries tried to answer, Scotto insisted: “Weren’t our gas prices over $5?”
“Well, right after the pandemic situation, there were gas prices…” Jeffries said.
“And I remember the eggs were around $12 a dozen,” Scotto said.
Scotto then moved on to discuss the New York Knicks’ NBA championship with the New York congressman.

Fox News Digital reached out to Jeffries’ office for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

At the time, members of the Democratic Party largely blamed the price increase on the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, calling it “Putin’s price increase.”

Gas prices peaked last month under President Trump Over $4.50 per gallon but it has fallen steadily over the past few weeks as the Trump administration’s negotiations with Iran continue.
