Hallmark actress Crystal Lowe diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer

Crystal Lowe is best known for her role in Hallmark’s movie.Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movie series was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer.

In a personal essay he wrote for people magazine, The 44-year-old actor and director described the harrowing moment he learned of his diagnosis, described how cancer “strained” him mentally and physically, and detailed how he mustered the strength to bravely face his toughest fight to date.

“Like many women, I have always had a love-hate relationship with my body,” she wrote. “Long before she gave me my two beautiful children, I was a bikini model for magazines like Maxim, and early in my acting career, I spent many years playing roles that were hyper-focused on how I looked. And I felt that pressure, constantly checking my body, conforming, second-guessing whether I was ‘enough.’ It was a silent battle fought every day.”

“Things started to change when I was cast as Rita Haywith on Hallmark Channel’s ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered,'” she continued. “It was the first time I was seen for my profession. But honestly, the mirror still calls me from time to time. I still check in. I still look. But this last time, it wasn’t about my insecurity. It was about something much more important: my health.”

In February 2025, Lowe noticed a large mass in her right breast. After initially being dismissed by a doctor, Lowe’s audience grew within a few months.

“The mass measured 10 centimeters,” he recalled. “This time my doctor wasn’t so ordinary; I was rushed away for a blind biopsy. After what seemed like an eternity, the doctor gently put his hand on my arm and said, ‘Honey, I can’t be sure, but this looks like cancer.'”

“I looked at him, blinking, as if I hadn’t heard correctly. ‘I don’t have cancer,’ I thought. ‘This is so crazy.’ But deep down something inside me is wondering, ‘What if?’ he whispered. Three days later my doctor called to tell me I had Invasive Carcinoma in one of the ducts. “I still remember hanging up the phone, curling up in a ball and screaming.”

Lowe said he learned he had Stage 3 invasive Ductal Carcinoma in late August.

“I actually look at the whole shebang: chemotherapy, double mastectomy, radiation, and eventually implants… As someone who has never had a major illness, it was a lot to digest,” she wrote.

The “Final Destination 3” actor said he had a week to mentally prepare for his first round of chemotherapy.

“I tried hard to push my nerves away as I walked through the door, but I remember sitting in the waiting room, tucking my knees under my loose sweater, desperately wanting to disappear,” she recalled. “The horror was indescribable.”

Lowe changed his mindset.

“To give the surgeon the best chance of removing the tumor, we must first shrink the tumor as much as possible,” he wrote. “Second, meet with a naturopath who works with oncologists to recommend the best foods to help my body heal. Third, recognize that a positive mental state is KEY to the healing process.”

Lowe said the entire process was difficult but also embarrassing as he continued his treatments.

“If I have one message for all of you, I think it would be this: This journey has been scary, strange, and humbling,” she wrote. “It has worn me down physically, emotionally, and spiritually in ways I never expected. But still… I promise to resist. To turn poison into medicine.” Grow. That’s what I learn every day.”

“If you are walking on a difficult path, know that you are not alone,” he added. “We may not be able to choose what happens to us, but we can choose how we meet it. And I meet it, sword raised, heart open, taking one step at a time.”
