Expert reveals fuel crisis hack Aussies are ignoring

An automotive industry expert has revealed a potential hack that could help drivers keep their bills lower.
As the country continues to see rising fuel prices and shortages at some service stations, NRMA’s Peter Khoury said the answer may be right under our noses at the pumps.
He said by making a different choice when refueling, drivers could reduce their bills while also supporting the Australian fuel industry.
Mr Khoury urged people to consider switching to E10 when fueling up, saying it could be a two-fold benefit for Australians.
He explained that in addition to the fact that ethanol-added fuel is currently cheaper in the bowser, it also supports the domestic industry because the ethanol used in the fuel is produced in Australia rather than imported.
“The cheapest fuel right now is E10 and this is a real opportunity to reduce our dependence on imported fuel alone,” Mr Khoury told NewsWire.
“Most cars can take E10, so it’s worth checking if it will work for you.
“You’re currently looking at around two cents per liter cheaper than other unleaded fuels, and ethanol is produced in Australia.
“We really encourage people to think about E10.”

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Energy Minister Chris Bowen said Australia currently has a 39-day supply of petrol, 29 days of diesel and 30 days of jet fuel. He said the refineries were operating at full speed.
He also reassured the public that there was no need to limit travel during the Easter period.
“We encourage people to feel free to stick to your plans. Go see your family, go and take a break, but only get the fuel you need,” Mr Bowen said.
“Fill as you normally would. If you’re leaving the city and going into the bush, fill the city.”
