PM Modi receives Sweden’s prestigious award Royal Order of Polar Star

Gothenburg (Sweden): Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday awarded the Royal Swedish Order of the Polar Star, the highest honor bestowed on a Head of Government by the Scandinavian country.

This is PM Modi’s 31st international honour.

The award is the highest title that can be given to a Head of Government. The Royal Order of the Pole Star was created in 1748 and is intended to recognize personal efforts for Sweden or Swedish interests, especially within the scope of public activities, as well as the successful discharge of public duties and responsibilities, according to its official website.

Modi arrived in Sweden on Sunday on a two-day visit. He was welcomed at Gothenburg Airport by his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson.
