Harry and Meghan ‘unlikely’ to heal damaged relationships with sick fathers

Despite recent hints that damaged relations may be improving, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are unlikely to make peace with their ailing father, according to reports.
While Meghan Markle sent a letter to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, while he was in hospital in the Philippines this week, Prince Harry met with his father, King Charles, for the first time in two years in September.
However, according to reports, the contact between both still does not indicate a broader reconciliation.
For the seventh year in a row, the Duke will not be spending Christmas at Sandringham with the rest of the royal family. Times reported.
It has been claimed that Harry has not had a phone call with his father, who is battling cancer, since they met three months ago, following the false accusation that his aides leaked details of that meeting to “sabotage” the relationship. A source told Times claimed the relationship was moving in the right direction and the two were talking, but someone else said it was ridiculous.
It comes as the monarch described her “overwhelming” personal journey with cancer in a broadcast message published on Friday. He announced that his treatment would be reinstated in the new year, which he described as a “personal blessing”.
Meanwhile, the duke is still out of touch with the Welsh after his explosive memoir Spare detailed a series of damning allegations about the royal family, including Prince William punching him to the ground in a fight.
As for the duchess’s relationship with her father, a source told the paper it was “too early to say” whether the life-threatening blood clot that Mr Markle, 81, recently suffered, would lead to family reunification, although in reality this is unlikely.
After the life-saving surgery in which his left leg was amputated on the island of Cebu, the 81-year-old writer invited the magazine’s US editor. Daily Mail to his bedside for an interview.
The publication is part of the same group of newspapers that Meghan defeated in a privacy lawsuit in 2021. Harry is currently fighting the group in the UK courts over alleged phone hacking. Mr Markle said: mail on sunday: “Of course I want to talk to him, but I’m not sure if these are the right circumstances.”
Meghan reportedly wrote a letter to her father out of fear the phone conversation would be leaked to the tabloids, but a source said he no longer had her number and there was little hope the note would lead to anything further.
