Prince Harry will now have to wait a while longer as his request for a review of police protection in England has reportedly been delayed. The Duke of Sussex, who traveled to Britain for a week earlier this month, recently called for a review of his right to police protection in the UK; but this request was denied just hours before he was due to travel with his young family in early July.

The 41-year-old man then made the journey on his own, and was then joined by his wife and two children later in the week. It emerged that he had to wait for a decision while authorities grappled with how to protect an unprecedented nine former prime ministers at the same time. Harry had previously been told he would be given a risk management panel to reassess his hedging when he visits the UK at the end of last year.

The review was due to be carried out in March by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), an independent body overseen by the Home Office, but had still not taken place by the end of June.

It is understood officials have been ordered to put a temporary pause on Harry’s review to cope with the demand.According to the Times report.

A source familiar with the process said: “Harry’s case is not just about Harry. This is about a much wider situation within the police about the number of former prime ministers they are now protecting and the fact that there are fewer armed officers available.”

Harry was stripped of his right to police protection after he resigned as a working member of the Royal Family.

The royal must now give at least one month’s notice if he visits the UK.

But he has been denied police protection on each of his visits to the UK so far.

A long-running court battle with the Home Office ended in defeat at the Court of Appeal last May.
