With Haryana completing the first phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across the state, the names of 33,84,568 voters remained unregistered due to permanent displacement, absenteeism, death or duplicate entries.

Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer A. Sreenivas said that the first phase of SIR in the state has been completed and the draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31 and this will be made available on the official website and all designated publishing centres.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Sreenivas said 20,629 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) distributed counting forms to more than 2 crore voters, of which more than 1 crore counting forms have been digitized.

“However, the names of 33 million 84 thousand 568 voters could not be recorded. Of these, 13.75 thousand 278 had constantly moved, 7.66 thousand 205 had passed away, 2.04 thousand 916 were registered as voters, 9.36 thousand 646 were not voters, and 1.01 thousand 523 voters had not submitted the counting form for other reasons.”

He said that claims and objections can be filed from July 31 to August 30. “If the name of any elector does not appear in the draft electoral roll to be published on July 31, he or she may submit Form 6 to get the name included again. The name will be included in the final electoral roll,” he said.

“No voter’s name will be deleted without giving an opportunity for a hearing. If the voter is aggrieved by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) decision, an objection can be made to the District Magistrate within 15 days. If the complaint is still ongoing, a fresh objection can be made to the Chief Electoral Commander within 30 days.”

He said the final voter rolls will be published on October 3. He said 37,055 Booth Level Representatives (BLAs) appointed by various political parties also assisted in the process. “These include 19,051 appointees of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 15,818 appointees of the Indian National Congress, 1,476 appointees of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), 54 appointees of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), 314 appointees of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and 342 appointees of the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP),” he said.
