Having a Wales of a time! Kate can’t stop giggling as she cheers on England in Six Nations rugby match – after week from hell for Royals after Andrew’s arrest

The Princess of Wales arrived to cheer on the England rugby team in their match against Ireland this afternoon, continuing her planned work following the unprecedented arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Kate sat in the stands at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham today as the royal family continues to emerge from the most serious crisis in modern history.

He was seen talking and laughing with injured English player Fin Baxter before the match started.

The Princess of Wales appeared at the rugby match as patron of the English Rugby Football Union (RFU) and appeared to be in good spirits despite England’s poor start, which saw Ireland take a 22-0 lead.

Wearing a long blue coat and matching England RFU scarf, it was his first public appearance since Thames Valley Police officers arrested the former prince.

The match marked the second week of the Six Nations tournament, with Wales taking on Scotland from 4.40pm.

Scottish RFU boss Princess Anne is expected to attend the match at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The Princess of Wales’s appearance comes after she was warned today that it was up to her and Prince William to save the royal family; The pressure to rebuild Andrew’s ‘integrity’ following his arrest ‘falls squarely’ on his shoulders.

The king’s younger brother was detained by officers for nearly 11 hours on Thursday on suspicion of abuse of public office.

William and Kate, the future of the monarchy, will now need to set out their vision for the next 50 years in a bid to salvage the institution’s reputation in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Accusations of Andrew’s connection to Epstein had dogged the family for years, culminating in the release of files from his estate by the US Department of Justice.

Some showed that the eighth-in-line to the throne shared sensitive information while he was trade envoy.

With the former prince’s approval rating at a record low due to his relationship with the convicted pedophile, crisis adviser Mark Borkowski said William and Kate had to somehow ‘ensure the integrity of the royal family’.

He added: ‘What are William and Kate really doing? What their generation is doing with the crown, with all its soft power and state affairs, is starting to look a bit like the European monarchy.

‘The pressure falls squarely on William’s shoulders to deliver what the royal family will be like in the next 50 years.

‘The weight of this burden on the reputation of the royal family depends on William and Kate and what they do.’

The Prince and Princess of Wales, known as Andrew’s biggest critics behind closed doors, made clear this week that they supported the King’s statement that ‘the law must take its course’ regarding William’s uncle.

The announcement, which came just two hours after Andrew’s arrest was confirmed by Thames Valley Police officers, was unprecedented in the royal family’s history and came unusually quickly.

The couple accommodated the King’s decisions to distance the royal family from Andrew; Last year Charles stripped his brother of his titles for the first time.

Charles said he would provide the police’s ‘wholehearted support and cooperation’ and expressed his ‘deepest concern’.

‘It is with deep concern that I learn of the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the suspicion of misconduct in public office,’ he said.

‘What will now come is a full, fair and appropriate process to ensure that this matter is investigated appropriately and by the relevant authorities. As I said before, we have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation on this matter.

‘Let me be clear: The law must take its own course.

‘It would not be appropriate for me to comment further on this matter while this process is ongoing. In the meantime, my family and I will continue our duty and service to all of you.’

The Prince and Princess are understood to fully support the statement, but neither William nor Kate have directly addressed the latest events.

William had already said ‘change is on my agenda’ when he ascended the throne, but he may have to open himself and the monarchy to greater scrutiny as long-standing attitudes towards the royal family come to an end.

In carrying the monarchy into the future, public opinion is crucial, whose authority ultimately rests on the support and good will of ordinary men and women.

Respect for members of the monarchy who lived in palaces, attended events as chauffeurs, and owned personal wealth has endured and helped sustain centuries.

But the arrest and possible investigation of one of its senior members threatens all of this.

The former Duke of York was arrested following an early raid at his Sandringham home on Thursday, on what would have been his 66th birthday.

As he left Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk that night, he looked visibly shocked to be treated as a ‘common crime suspect’.

Officers from Thames Valley Police descended on Wood Farm at 8am and spent the day searching the Norfolk estate as well as the Royal Lodge at Windsor. The searches here will continue until Monday.

Detectives are investigating Andrew’s behavior as a UK trade envoy after emails included in the Epstein Files suggested he may have shared confidential information, including information about his official visits and potential investment opportunities, with his pedophile friend.

After serving in the Royal Navy for 22 years, he became Britain’s special representative for international trade and investment in 2001.

He resigned in 2011 amid outrage over his friendship with Epstein.

Emails released by the US Department of Justice show the former Duke sharing reports about official visits to Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore.

An email dated November 2010 was revealed to have been forwarded by Andrew five minutes after it was sent by his then special counsel Amir Patel.

Another, on Christmas Eve 2010, appeared to have sent a secret briefing to Epstein about investment opportunities in the reconstruction of Afghanistan’s Helmand Province.

Experts also suggested that searching for properties linked to the former prince could allow detectives to widen the investigation into any alleged sexual offences.

Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing regarding his relationship with Epstein or the sex crime allegations.
