If the U.S. Democratic Party is spiralling, blame Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

That’s according to Chris Cuomo, who said on his podcast on Tuesday that the New York congresswoman is a “symbol of the demise” of the Democrats and urged the party to move on from her.

The Chris Cuomo Project host pointed out that “woke” Ocasio-Cortez is about “weighing the needs and wants of the few over the many” and backing her and candidates like her will ultimately lead the downfall of the Dems.

“AOC is a major perpetrator and symbol of the demise of the Democratic Party by going too far down the road of favouring the few over the many,” he reiterated.

Later in the episode, Cuomo continued to denounce the democratic socialist, warning Democrats that any attention given to her helps the rise of dangerous ideologies into the mainstream.

“I think you’re making a mistake paying attention to AOC and this new deference to radical left and radical fundamentalist and radical Islamist sympathies. I think it’s a huge f***–g mistake,” Cuomo declared.

He added that throwing support Ocasio-Cortez’s way would only lead to backlash like they’ve never experienced before.

“If you [Democrats] think trans sports got you in a pickle, you’re about to be in a whole bucket of brine,” Cuomo added.

There has been chatter that Ocasio-Cortez could be the face of the Democratic Party in four years if she decides on a presidential run after reports suggested her significant grassroots support could enable her to make a run for U.S. president at the end of Donald Trump’s second term in office in 2028.

However, in 2022, she said in an interview with GQ that she could never be elected president because so many Americans “hate women” and “would never let that happen.”

Meanwhile, Cuomo’s brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, is currently challenging another democratic socialist, Zohran Mamdani, in the New York City mayoral race.

While he conceded the Democratic nomination last month to Mamdani last month, Cuomo is still running in the general election.
