Head constable found dead in Shettihalli lake

A 50-year-old head constable attached to Channapatna traffic station was found dead at Shettihalli lake in Channapatna Rural police station limits on Tuesday.

It was stated that the deceased was Lakshman. He was on his way to work on his two-wheeler when the incident occurred.

Police suspect that Lakshman lost control while driving near the lake and slipped into the lake and drowned. When he did not return home, family members tried to reach him, but his mobile phone was turned off.

According to police, Lakshman left home around 7.30 pm and was heading to Channapatna Rural traffic police station for night shift. He reportedly lost control of his bike, hit the railing of the bridge and fell into the lake.

On Tuesday morning, passersby found the two-wheeler near the lake.

Police recovered the body and took it to the hospital for autopsy. A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation is ongoing.
