Heatwaves, thunderstorms and fire danger flagged across Australia this weekend

Australians across the country are being warned to prepare for mixed weather this weekend as storms, heatwaves and high fire conditions are expected.
Following a warm start to spring, heatwaves are expected in parts of Qld, NT and northern WA this weekend, with temperatures expected to be in the low forties in some areas, according to the Weather zone.
The Bureau of Meteorology said a heatwave warning was in place for much of northern and western Queensland from Bundaberg northwards.
Extreme heatwave conditions in parts of Qld, NT and northern WA are also contributing to the ongoing fire danger; because fire services continue to fight many fires that are currently ongoing across the country.

Hot, dry and windy conditions will maintain high fire danger rates across large areas of northern and eastern Australia over the coming days.
Storms are also expected to develop in inland Western Australia and western parts of SA on Friday.
They are expected to spread eastward into SA on Saturday before reaching the country’s east coast on Sunday.
“There is a risk of severe storms to the west of the peninsula… this means storms could pack an extra punch, damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall are possible and we may not see this level of severity in Adelaide, but we could certainly see moderate rain and some active weather,” BOM Senior Meteorologist Angus Hines said on Friday afternoon. he said.
The Weather Zone said thunderstorms could be severe across parts of WA, NT and SA on Friday and Saturday, with a rapid risk of heavy rainfall as well as damaging wind gusts.
Although heavy rainfall remains a risk for Vic, NSW and parts of Qld, the risk of severe storms will decrease on Sunday as storms shift eastward.
