Heavy, wet snow slows travel in Montco as crews plow into the night

As night fell in Montgomery County, the snow increased, visibility worsened, and more and more crews took to the roads.
“Long, probably at least until plowing tomorrow night,” said Mark Kosma of Warminster.
The roads in Norristown were covered in snow and some people were even walking through the snow. Even though ridership was low, SEPTA was starting slowly and helping people get home.
Kosma said of the road conditions: “Some better than others, most are slippery, but it’s heavy, wet snow, so it’s going to be wet and dangerous.”
People made sure to stock up as the storm progressed so they could hide until the storm was over.
“We probably have enough for a year, but my wife always needs something else,” said Gerald Nachman of Wayne.
“We have a snowblower, my husband is ready for it, and I will sit inside and wait with the soup,” added King Maryanne Keith of Prussia.
Earlier in the day, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed a disaster declaration for the winter storm.
The disaster declaration allows the Commonwealth to quickly withdraw funds and provide state agencies with the resources needed to assist counties and municipalities in their response efforts.
The governor urged Pennsylvanians to stay off the roads as the storm continues to intensify.
