Helpless child watched monster gouge mum’s eye and bite her nose | UK | News

A vicious thug who gouged out a woman’s eye and bit off her nose in front of her terrified toddler during a horrific attack has been jailed for three years. Matt Satchell, 28, carried out the brutal attack at the victim’s Dartford home on August 9, 2025, following an argument.

He pushed the woman to the ground, pinned her to the ground, and covered her mouth and nose to stop her screams for help. He then bit her nose, stuck his thumb in her eye, slapped her repeatedly and hurled obscenities at her; While he was doing all this, his child looked on helplessly. Fearing that he would be killed, the victim eventually managed to get away from him and leave the room. However, when he asked for his phone back, he resorted to violence again.

Unknown to him, he had mistakenly called a relative during the struggle. His relative heard the noise and immediately called the police.

Officers rushed to the address but found Satchell had already fled. He was later tracked down and arrested at a property in Stone.

Satchell, of Cherry Avenue, Swanley, was charged with intentional strangulation and actual bodily harm. He denied both crimes but was convicted after a trial.

He was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and given a five-year restraining order at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Investigating officer Constable Ellie Rose said: “This was a horrific and sustained attack carried out in front of a young child and Satchell was completely out of control.

“The victim showed tremendous courage in coming forward, despite her understandable fear of reprisals, and I hope this outcome will help her begin to move forward with her life.

“There is never an excuse for domestic abuse.

“There is a wealth of support available for victims and we work closely with a range of agencies and charities to help people escape the cycle of abuse.”
