High Street Stalwart Claire’s, 281 stores and more than 2,000 jobs at risk, confirming that it will apply for management.
Accessory giant, which is the basis of the high streets of Britain, announced that it will appoint managers for the UK and Ireland business today.
The company confirmed that the UK stores will remain open as usual and that the managers will remain in the positions of the store employees after being appointed.
Claire’s have a total of 306 stores in England and Ireland, and managers are preparing to make a potential rescue agreement for the chain, which sees that sales have fallen in the face of the latest weak consumer demand.
The US retailer was founded in 1961 and there are stores in Canada, England, France, Spain and Germany, as well as in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Initially known as Claire’s boutique and Claire’s accessories, stores targeted young girls with bright and affordable accessories, jewels, toys and ear -piercing services.
The news comes after the US -based Claire’s group last week after the 11 bankruptcy application in a court in Delaware.
The group declared bankruptcy for the second time after presenting the process in 2018 for the first time.
