Recall: 5-in-1 nusery centre portable cot sold at Costway and Amazon pulled from shelves

A portable cot has been pulled from shelves after failing to meet Australia’s mandatory safety standards for baby sleep products, prompting warnings of risk of serious injury or death.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has recalled a 5-in-1 baby care center portable cot that serves as a bassinet, bed, bed, bassinet, activity center and changing table and is sold on Costway Wholesale and Amazon.
“This product does not comply with mandatory standards for baby sleep products,” the ACCC said in a recall alert issued on Friday.
Consumers are asked to check the model number or SKU to see if it matches their product’s SKU: BB0505.
Customers who purchased a portacot with the recalled SKU number are told to stop using the product immediately and return it to the place of purchase to arrange for a free replacement.
According to the recall notice, the portakot poses a pinch and suffocation hazard and poses a risk of serious injury or death if an infant is placed in the product.
“Risk of serious injury or death from entrapment or drowning. An incident has occurred,” the ACCC said.
The product recall comes after a snowsuit for babies was pulled from shelves due to a dangerous defect inside.
Quilted snowsuits for babies, with a pink floral pattern and cream-colored teddy bears, were available online and in Best and Less stores nationwide between April 16 and June 11.
The dresses were recalled due to a fault with snaps that could break off during use.
There is a risk of death or serious injury from suffocation if the snap comes off the coverall and the child swallows it.
The following SKUS are recalled: 1922326, 1922327, 1922328, 1922329, 1922330, 1922331 1922334, 1922335, 1922336, 1922337, 1922338 and 1922339.
Customers are told to stop using snowsuits and keep them out of reach of children.
People can return their snowwear to any Best and Less store where they can receive a full refund.
