HM Amit Shah lambasts Congress in Lok Sabha

The Home Minister warned that the Congress’s current campaign against SIR of voter lists and One Nation One Election (ONOE) will only deepen electoral isolation.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday offered a scathing rebuttal to the Congress in the Lok Sabha, asserting that the party’s repeated election defeats were directly due to its opposition to the Modi government’s landmark decisions, especially the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
“You opposed the abrogation of Article 370, you opposed the CAA, you opposed the abolition of triple talaq, you opposed surgical strikes and, above all, you opposed the Ram Mandir. That is exactly why people have rejected you over and over again,” HM Shah said as NDA members noisily banged tables on the floor.
The Home Minister warned that the Congress’s current campaign against Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and One Nation One Election (ONOE) will only deepen electoral isolation. “If you continue to oppose SIR, you will not only be destroyed in Bihar, you will also be destroyed in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu in the coming elections,” he predicted.
HM Shah attributed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s major victories to the delivery of tangible prosperity rather than any manipulation. “Modi ji has provided free rations, gas cylinders, tap water and electricity to 60 crore people and built world-class infrastructure. People reward performance with votes. Janata is Ishwar and you dare call this authority ‘oy kori’?” he asked, prompting harsh protests from opposition benches.
Terming the day’s debate as a golden opportunity, HM Shah said the government has comprehensively exposed what he called “one-sided lies” spread by the Congress about the Election Commission’s drive to clear voter lists. “Every false narrative you have built around SIR has been demolished in this House today,” he asserted.
The Home Secretary’s aggressive counterattack comes amid the ongoing Winter Session clash over electoral reforms; The opposition accused the Center of using the SIR to disenfranchise marginalized communities ahead of crucial state elections. However, Shah promised that the NDA will continue with determination and stated that the exercise was necessary for election integrity and national security. After his speech, the Parliament adjourned for a day.
