Madhya Pradesh doctor, who prescribed cough syrup, detained after 9 children die

A senior police officer said that a doctor allegedly prescribing his cough syrup was questioned in connection with the death of at least 9 children in the Chhindwara region of Madhya Pradesh.
Chhindwara sp ajay pandy Hindu Dr. Praveen Soni was detained late on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Dr. Soni is accused of prescribing the banned Coldrif syrup, which is now allegedly causing deaths for a month.
Mr. Pandey, Dr. Soni and syrup manufacturer Sresan Pharmaceuticals against Tamil Nadu against a Kancheepuram -based company said that a lawsuit.
The case was filed in accordance with the BNS section 105 and 276 and 27th of the Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Law.
Pandey, “Officially we will question him before the arrest. After that we will contact Tamil Nadu police and we will look for coordination in the investigation,” he said.
