Home targeted for second time

A home in Sydney’s south-west has been the target of a shooting for the second time in 48 hours, as the state police commissioner rejects claims gun violence is out of control.

A manhunt is ongoing after multiple shots were fired at the house in Bossley Park, Aberdeen Street, at around 6.30am on Friday.

In one of three shootings Wednesday night, a single bullet hit a trailer outside the home.

NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said gun violence in the city’s west was “absolutely not out of control” and tackling organized crime remained a top priority for police.

“We have made significant arrests. We will not stand by and watch the type of violence you see there,” he said.

A white Audi sedan was involved in both attacks, matching a vehicle found abandoned following a crash Friday morning at the near intersection of Mimosa Road and Prairie Vale Road.

The automatic rifle found in the vehicle will be subject to forensic examination.
