Hong Kong’s Belon Rides Bistro Renaissance With Young New Chef

(Bloomberg) – Hong Kong is not missing for the polished French bistros, and as the competition sharpens, Belon wants to get an advantage with a change in the kitchen. When he was only 29 years old, Mina Gentleman, born in Istanbul, stepped into the role of chief chief, one of the youngest young people to lead him the best restaurant in the city, and one of the few women who run Michelin star restaurants in Asia.

The trail on the menu is shown in the form of cooking based on the French technique, which includes local materials and elements from the Turkish history. This is the most prominent in the east-west bending of Roast Duck: it is served with dry and apricot and bulgur wheat for 14 days, caused by Guangzhou. The bowl is anchoring a Prix Fixe menu of the land sheep’s monthly “coating” agreement with $ 428 HK ($ 55) per person.

I am a guest and I reserve a spot for a Monday night. Immediately, New York Jazz Bar Aesthetics: Think of sophisticated in blue and gray tones. In fact, nothing about Belon is visually like a traditional Parisian Bistro. However, the silent color palette did not move away from carefully prepared and delicious food. Another emphasis was incredibly attentive and generous staff.

After a free glass of champagne, we started with Ceviche -style FLUKE (light and flavor on the tongue), and by our waiter, we were enlarged to share Chef Mina’s signature pastry beef (HK $ 398). This followed the duck mentioned above and then ended with a sinful Mille-Feuille (HK $ 198). Our invoice, including the service, is a total of $ 1,658 hk.

Vibe: Contemporary stylish in the heart of Soho. The general ambiance is stylish but sincere and comfortable with paintings suitable for four people. Belon welcomes smart everyday clothes.

Who is with you: The combination of various promotions revealed couples, friends, colleagues and families.

Can you have a meeting here? Yes definitely. There is enough space among the tables that will allow official conversations, and nu jazz music is a thin touch in the background.

We have ordered again: Brioche Beef with caviar is a favorite crowd for a good reason. With butter, melting in the mouth is perfect despite its humble appearance. In addition, I do not regret pamping in the latest dessert offer-a chilled strawberry and Chahantilly Cream Mille-Feuille treatment.

You need to know: on the first floor of Belon 1-5 Elgin Street. The entrance is stuck between Fukuro and Ho Lee Fook, the entrance and the door of the ladder. The restaurant offers dinner every day. Guests who want to immerse themselves into the action of the kitchen can separate the chef’s meter (seats up to four people) for a unique front -row experience.
