Afghan asylum seeker with a sexually transmitted infection who raped a “defenceless” man in a park was arrested in prison. Islamuddin Talash, 43, violently sexually assaulted the man at Leicester Abbey Park on October 9, 2023.
The man was approaching people in the park and asking if they had a bike they could buy. Talash, of Westfield Road, Smethwick, invited the man to his hotel, saying he had a bike he could give him. However, while walking in the park, Talash took the man into the bushes. was raped he.
Talash was found guilty of rape during a trial at Leicester Crown Court in June. He was sentenced to six years in prison and was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely on Wednesday, July 15.
Recorder Sacha Ackland told Talash he would be automatically subject to deportation after completing his sentence.
Just before the rape, two young boys had become suspicious of Talaş’s behavior. They started filming him and taking pictures with their phones.
Talash ran away when they approached the bushes where they found the man and stayed with him through his ordeal, taking him to a police station to report what had happened.
The court heard this was the man’s first visit to Leicester and he had conditions that meant his ability to recognize danger was diminished and social skills were impaired. BBC reports.

Miss Ackland told the court Talash ordered the man, then 20, to perform oral sex on him before the rapist went any further.
Prosecutor Paul Cavin KC said an aggravating factor was that Talash was receiving treatment at the time, leaving the man vulnerable to contracting an STI. The man did not have a sexually transmitted infection but received treatment.
Tom Welshman, defending Talash, said his client understood the seriousness of his offending. He told the court Talash came to the UK to escape a “hellish existence” under Taliban rule in Afghanistan, where some of his family were killed.
Det Sgt Sarah Jones, of Leicestershire Police, praised the actions of the two teenagers as crucial to the investigation. He said on Wednesday: “They did absolutely the right thing by acting on their suspicions.
“They, along with the victim, deserve great credit for being held accountable in court, which led to today’s outcome.”
Ms. Jones said an officer was walking in the park and saw a man who resembled the suspect in the footage provided by witnesses. Talash was immediately arrested and charged within a few hours.
He added: “The victim was vulnerable and the defendant exploited this for his own sexual gratification. We hope this case will reassure the local community and help the victim put the events of that afternoon behind them.”
