Horror as boy, 10, dies after leopard grabbed him by the neck | World | News

According to the information obtained, a 10-year-old boy died after a leopard grabbed him by the neck. The terrible incident took place in a forest area in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is believed that the boy left his home in Babaganj village around 5.30 pm.
Later, a leopard grabbed the boy by the neck just 300 meters away from the village. The child was reportedly dragged into the bush before locals ran towards him, forcing the predator to release the child and run away.
Unfortunately he passed away.
Forest ranger Mobin Arif said that the tragedy on Thursday, July 23, was “the fourth death due to big cat attacks in Kheri district in the last 11 days.”
Police officer Bhupendra Singh said forest teams have been deployed and CCTV cameras have been installed around the area to trace the animal’s tracks. Officers also set traps to capture the animal.
“Two cages with live bait were also placed to capture the animal. Pug tracks found at the scene confirmed that a leopard was involved.”
The victim’s family is expected to receive 5 lakh rupees (about £3,890) as compensation, 5 lakh rupees (about £3,110) from the state disaster relief fund and 5 lakh rupees (about £777.50) from the forest department.
Other recent deaths include tiger attacks on 60-, 50- and 45-year-olds.
