Horror as man sneaked into women’s homes to steal toys for ‘sex room’ | UK | News
A sexual predator has been sentenced to prison after breaking into women’s homes, going through their underwear and watching them sleep. Ference Bogdan, 33, from Huddersfield, targeted two women; The first person to discover his personal belongings had disappeared after breaking into his home in November 2023.
The victim returned from the shops to discover her bedside table had been rummaged through and her cosmetic bag was missing, prosecutor Jayne Beckett told Leeds Crown Court on Friday.
She said: “The studio door was closed but not locked, but he had not processed it at the time. The items on his bedside table were not in the drawer. Everything had been mixed up and there were underwear, condoms, lube and books on the floor. “He was worried about it but did not act.
“The next day, she looked for the black cosmetic bag in which she kept her sex toys, but could not find it. She called the police, reported the situation and changed the locks.”
At around 5.30am on November 24, 2023, he was awakened by a “rustling sound” before feeling like he was being watched.
Miss Beckett said: “She was watching him. She was in complete shock and shouted, something like ‘Go away, go away, go away’. She thought the defendant was talking to her.”
“He then backed out of the side window, which must have allowed him to get in. He realized the situation and, in his words, ‘freaked out’ and called the police.”
The court was told the woman recognized items seized from Bogdan’s home as belonging to her. Bogdan described the room where the items were found as a “sex room” in his pre-sentence report.
Bogdan’s second target noticed that his Samsung tablet and adult toys, which he kept in a drawstring bag, had disappeared, but he had no idea where they might be.
The court was told that on September 28, 2024, the woman was asleep and “became disturbed” when she saw Bodgan caressing her feet at around 2am.
The prosecutor said: “He felt a blow in the middle of his foot. He opened his eyes and saw the defendant crouching on his toes.
“The defendant left the bedroom but came back a minute or two later. He entered slowly and in a hunched position.
“He walked to the bottom of the bed where the woman was lying face down. The defendant put his finger on her hip and moved it between her skin and her underwear towards her waist.”
Bogdan then repeated the action on the other side of the woman’s waist before pulling down her underwear. The woman “turned over” and shouted at him: “What are you doing, who are you?”.
It was stated that the woman’s wardrobe was defaced and her bikini top and underwear were found next to her bed.
Honor Judge Robin Maers sentenced him to an extended prison sentence of 16 years and 10 months, including 12 years and 10 months behind bars, and an extended license period of four years.
Bogdan must spend two-thirds of his detention in prison before the Parole Board decides whether it is safe for him to be released. The judge also issued a restraining order preventing him from contacting both victims.
