Horror as pet killed by another dog while protecting owner – ‘back legs had gone’ | UK | News

A pet owner has recalled the terrifying moment his beloved dog was killed by another animal while trying to protect him. Three-year-old Cavapoo Herbie died tragically last week in Padstown, Cornwall, after a dog escaped from the garden and killed him.
She said: “And he came for me and bit my hand. Then my dog said ‘no way’ and he bit the dog’s ass to say ‘no, you’re not going after him.’ And yeah, that was just the end of my dog.”
“He died fighting for his mother. It was one of the most traumatic things.” The bite marks on Kayla’s hands are now bruised and crusted, a physical reminder of the traumatic event that occurred on April 2.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the dog that caused the injuries had been euthanised. Another dog seized at the scene was returned to its owner.
The owner was also issued a Dog Control Order. A force spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a dog attack in Boyd Avenue, Padstow, on April 2.
“A dog reportedly escaped from the property and attacked another dog, causing fatal injuries. The owner of the injured dog was also injured.”
“The dog that caused the injuries was euthanized.
“A dog that was seized at the scene and did not escape from the garden and was not involved in the attack was handed over to its owner after the controls were completed. A Dog Control Order was issued to the owner.”
