Horror as woman dies after alligator mauls her arm off | World | News

A 31-year-old woman died after a crocodile bit one of her arms in a park in the USA. According to Lt. Grant Eller of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the victim was hiking with her boyfriend and best friend in the Little Big Eco State Forest in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday when they entered the Econlockhatchee River to cool off. They were then attacked by the alligator, and NBC added that screams and cries could be heard in the background in the recording of the 911 call they obtained. In that recording, NBC said a woman on the phone line told the emergency dispatcher, “Okay, both his arms, both his arms, basically both his arms are covered.”
The officer then told him help was on the way and asked “are his arms still tied?” he asked. “It’s like one of them is very attached to him. [by a] the woman on the phone answered. When the officer asked again where the other arm was, the woman on the phone replied, “It’s gone.”
Mr. Eller also added that “alligators are very territorial this time of year.” The lieutenant said the victim, who lived in Orlando, died at the scene. The victim has not yet been identified because his family lives out of state, NBC reported.
Two crocodiles were seen near the scene. One was 13 feet long; the other was 12 feet long. DNA tests are ongoing to determine which one attacked the woman. It is not yet known what caused the crocodile to attack.
The attack occurred near the Barr Street Trailhead, which was closed Monday. NBC added that serious injuries caused by alligators are rare in Florida, according to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The broadcaster also said this was the third alligator attack reported in the past seven days and the second alligator attack in Central Florida in the past 24 hours.
