Horror as woman ‘raped in alleyway’ in small UK city | UK | News

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape following reports that a woman had been attacked in an alley. West Mercia Police said the alleged crime is believed to have occurred between 6am and 8.30am on Saturday in The Tything, Worcester.
Police said the arrested man remains in custody while investigations continue. It was stated that the number of police officers in the region increased and the victim was supported by expert police officers. Detective Inspector Lisa Tibbits said: “I know an incident such as this would cause great concern in the community and I would like to reassure the public that a full investigation is currently ongoing.
“I would appeal to anyone who has any information that would assist our investigations, no matter how trivial you think it is, to please contact the police. “As part of our investigation, we have a man in custody who has been assisting us with the investigations.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area as we carry out investigations and specially trained officers provide victim support.”
