A spokesman for force Online mail: “Emergency Service teams participated in the recovery of two objects under the cliff in Whitby Abbey on Wednesday evening.
“A member of the people called the police at 19.16 after identifying a man and woman in the following rocks.
“When the tidal came quickly, the Coast Guard coordinated an ambulance teams near Whitby Abbey. This was completed at 20.24.
“Medical officials confirmed deaths and the bodies were taken to hospital by ambulance.
“While the police continue to follow the next relative of the man and woman, the investigation continues the conditions of sudden deaths for a coronary report.”
