The reason thousands of fans were stuck outside Suncorp Stadium while the show started
Technical issues forced thousands of Lady Gaga fans to enter Suncorp Stadium last night, with the show starting almost an hour late.
Problems were discovered during the star’s sound check, resulting in doors opening at 5.50pm instead of 5pm as planned.
The disruption caused fans to queue outside Suncorp for another two hours.
“This delay resulted in a backlog of customers queuing in the stadium’s outer plazas. This aggravated already delayed entry and resulted in customers experiencing unusually long waiting times,” a Suncorp Stadium spokesperson said.
The spokesman said 95 percent of ticket holders were at the venue at 19.52. However, the show had already started by then, with Gaga (scheduled to continue at 7pm) taking the stage at 7.40pm.
On social media, fans posted videos of the demonstration starting while they were still trapped outside the gates.
The spokesperson said, “As always, the venue will hold a comprehensive information meeting with all stakeholders in the coming days.”
