This tip is backed by Karina Toner, professional cleaner and operations manager at Speckless. She says: “A small sprinkle – about ½ to 1 teaspoon – is more than enough.

“You don’t need much to freshen the air when vacuuming, and using too much can stress the vacuum cleaner’s filters or motor.”

As reported by Homes and Gardens, it’s best to sprinkle ground cinnamon powder directly into your vacuum cleaner’s trash can. Or if it’s an old-style baghouse vacuum, sprinkle it directly onto the floor and then suck it up.

Homes and Gardens adds: “If you frequently vacuum up pet hair or clean up smelly food crumbs, you may want to do this before each cleaning. Otherwise, do it when really necessary to avoid overloading your vacuum cleaner.”
