In a statement, TNL said, “This grave incident is beyond words to describe the brutality of the Kukis, which has gone beyond the limits of human conscience and morality. Since the conflict between the Tangkhul Nagas and the Kukis began in early February, Kuki militants have been openly attacking civilians in Litan, Laho, Sinakeithei, Sikibung and Thawai. The passengers, including women, children and patients, were traveling from Imphal to Ukhrul. With the help of security escorts, Mahadev and “It had passed through Litan. The attack was carried out as soon as the escort team returned to Litan and was shot by Kuki militants who deliberately targeted civilians with snipers and other advanced long-range rifles.”
The organization added: “The indifferent silence of the State and Central forces, who openly allowed the atrocities of the wild Kukis to continue unchecked, emboldened the Kuki militants to carry out such an inhumane attack. The inability of the security forces to prevent illegal attacks.”
The containment of the militants and the conduct of territorial domination exercises raise the question of whether the security forces are incompetent or complicit with the Kuki militants.
