‘Insult meted out to Nari Shakti will never be forgiven’: Jaishankar lambasts Oppn after Constitutional Amendment Bill defeat in LS

In a post published on X on Friday, Jaishankar said, “Today we all saw the true face of Congress, TMC, DMK and Samajwadi Party. By blocking the Constitutional Amendment that would reserve one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, they have denied the legitimate rights of women. The nation is watching and so are the women. The insult to Nari Shakti today will never be forgiven.” he said.
He slams the opposition to the ground bjp MP Naresh Bansal said women in the country will never forgive the opposition and the Congress.
“The opposition’s stubbornness and actions against women’s reservations prove that the Congress-led opposition alliance is anti-women… The government, with full intention, wants to empower half of the country’s population by giving 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. Under the leadership of PM Modi, while women are being empowered socially and economically, they should also be empowered politically; this was an effort stalled by the opposition for now, but the women of the country will never be able to do it. Forgive the opposition and the Congress,” the BJP MP told ANI.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said: “It is a very sad moment for the women of India and all democracy lovers when the Congress party, PM Modi, opposed the BJP to stop women’s rights and stifled women’s right to power… PM Modi, BJP, NDA were in favor of giving rights to women, but the Congress party stopped it one way or another… The women of the country will never forgive them for this historic incident. mistake.”
The Constitution Amendment Bill to implement Reservation for Women in the 2029 general elections was rejected in the Lok Sabha on Friday, with opposition parties voting against it.
