How I Keep Myself Fit!: Healing In Every Step

Senior Robotic and Conventional Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Every morning and evening, Mithin Aachi sets out for the quiet streets of his colony and the vast green spaces of Osmania University, which he calls his “open-air gym and sanctuary”. He takes around 10,000 steps a day, but insists: “It’s not the number that matters, it’s the rhythm it creates in my day.”

His philosophy focuses on steady, low-effort movements. “Long-term fitness doesn’t always require intensity,” he says. “It needs consistency and a pace your body likes.”

Medical science backs it up. Regular low-impact aerobic activity improves heart function, improves circulation and improves mental well-being. “Slow, steady movement heals in a way that aggressive training sometimes cannot,” he explains.

But according to Dr Aachi, the real magic lies in nature itself. “There’s a quiet medicine in walking under the trees or breathing in the morning air; it resets you in ways you can’t measure,” he says.

Bird watching and photography became a natural extension of these walks. “They help me notice details (colors, sounds, patterns), and this awareness extends to all areas of life,” he shares.
